Rosary Necklace

     Rosary necklace is a religious article for Roman Catholics throughout the world. It is an age old traditional necklace which existed from the roman times. A rosary necklace is a 5 decade Dominican rosary, each decade of this necklace consists of ten beads, so on the whole it is a necklace made of 59 beads with a cross hung at the centre of the necklace.

     Usually necklaces are worn by lay people (general public) but the specialty of the rosary necklace is that it is not only worn by the lay people but also by the religious priests and nuns who follow the Roman Catholic religion. This is worn as a reverence to Jesus Christ because according to the roman history he laid his life on the cross to grant salvation to humanity. So a rosary necklace is incomplete without a cross attached to it.

     It is usually a chain with a clasp added making it more convenient to wear around the neck. The clasp is added near the center or in the third decade (the back of the neck). Larger rosaries do not require a clasp as long as they can fit over one's head, but most common rosaries are too small to fit over the head and so a clasp is needed.It is made out of the most common and inexpensive materials like beads, wood, glass and so on…..however few of them go for a gold, platinum, white gold or silver rosary necklaces as it gives them a spiritual feeling and would also last long.

     Rosary necklaces are worn to serve a spiritual utilitarian purpose and not a fashion statement. It is a religious article which is used to pray. It is an age old ritual that this article should be used while offering the prayer as it is believed that by doing so you find favor with god through the intersession of mother Mary who is the mother of Jesus Christ. Wearing a rosary necklace on a daily basis makes it possible for Christians to easily pray the rosary at any time or place. It can help one to remember to pray throughout the day, as do rosary bracelets, pocket rosaries, rosary rings and other similar items.
